Lisa Kudrow, the American actress best known for playing 'Phoebe' on the hit sitcom 'Friends, is set to host the 2011 Webby Awards in New York. Lisa Kudrow, who now appears in the online comedy show 'Web Therapy', will front the awards ceremony at the Hammerstein Ballroom on 13th June 2011, reports OnTheRedCarpet.com.
The event traditionally honours "excellence" in videos, applications and other online projects. The winners of the awards were announced earlier this month, with Kudrow herself scooping two gongs for 'Web Therapy'. Justin Bieber will pick up the 'People's Voice' award for 'Best Comedy Video', while 'The Hangover' star Zach Galifianakis has won four awards for his online talk show 'Between Two Ferns'. The Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences confirmed Kudrow's appearance in a statement today, saying, "In addition to her traditional hosting duties, Kudrow will also be responsible for ensuring that winners stick to the Webby Awards' famous five-word speech limit". In keeping with the awards digital-spirit, the entire ceremony will be broadcast live on the Webby Awards official Facebook page. Kudrow's web show is set to make its television debut on 19th July 2011 on the Showtime cable network. The 47-year-old plays a therapist named 'Fiona Wallice' who attempts to treat people via webcam.
Numerous celebrities have guest starred on Lisa Kudrow's web series in recent months, most notably Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 'Glee' actress Jane Lynch and Saturday Night Live alum MOLLY SHANNON.
