Scissor Sisters singer Jake Shears still feels under pressure to prove himself to the bullies who mad his life hell.

The openly gay frontman - who is currently promoting the band's third album 'Night Work' - admits the torment he suffered drives him to succeed.

Jake said: "I'll never stop feeling like I've got something to prove. You never really get rid of those demons sitting on your shoulder."

But bandmate Ana Matronic believes he needs to let his demons go, saying: "Oh, come on! The kids that called you 'faggot' are all fat, sad mums and dads sitting in Arizona voting for John McCain."

Jake joked: "In fact Ana Matronic is the demon sitting on my shoulder. I can never be a complete person while she is here gnawing away at my self-esteem."

The group - which consists of Jake, Ana, Babydaddy, Del Marquis and Randy Real - have also admitted they are sick of some of their biggest hits, especially 'I Don't Feel Like Dancin''.

Ana revealed to Q magazine: "I was sick of it before it came out. We had to play it about a million times before you guys even heard it."

Jake added: "I thought I was sick of 'Take Your Mama', but we Busted it out in rehearsal the other day and it's fun to sing again. We need a rest from stuff. It's like a comfortable shoe. It becomes a part of you after a while."
