Scouting For Girls almost split up while recording their new album.
The 'She's So Lovely' hitmakers - Roy Stride, Greg Churchouse and Pete Ellard - said the long and difficult process of making 'The Light Between Us' was so stressful it almost ''killed'' the band.
Frontman Roy told the Daily Star newspaper: ''This album nearly killed us. We had five different producers and so many studios that at times I didn't think it was going to happen.
''But the album is much stronger for it. It's my favourite that we've done and we've benefited from having the extra time to write it.''
The band have been touring the UK testing out their new material on fans and are hoping for a hit with first single 'Summertime in the City.'
Roy added: ''We've done a couple of festivals to try out some new songs. And we'll be back at the big ones next year.''
The band almost didn't include the lead single on the album, but drummer Pete insisted it is now a sure fire hit.
Roy joked: ''You can't get the smug look off Pete's face now. If it is a hit I'll have to buy him a drink.''
