Dianna Agron wants to play Carrie Bradshaw in a movie prequel.

The 24-year-old 'Glee' star would love to play a younger version of the 'Sex And The City' style icon - portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker in six TV series and two movies - in the possible 'Carrie Diaries' prequel, although she would worry about comparisons to the actress.

She said: "Of course I would do it. I mean, who hasn't seen every episode five million times.

"But then again, you run the risk of people hating it. I mean, how do you compete against Sarah Jessica Parker? She originated that!"

The 'I Am Number Four' actress isn't the only young star to express interest in playing the stylish New York writer in the film, which will be based on the book by 'Sex and the City' author Candace Bushnell.

Pop star Miley Cyrus previously said she would "love" to be cast, adding: "I'm not attached, so I don't want to say that, but that would be very cool."

'Gossip Girl' actress Blake Lively was also recently rumoured, but suggestions she would be involved have since been quashed.

Sarah Jessica, 45, has previously claimed she would like to play her younger self if a prequel were ever to be made.

She said: "Who do I want to play teenage Carrie? I don't know.

"Maybe they should use old footage of me. And in this new age of 'Avatar', what about a new 17-year-old S.J.?"
