Sharon Stone is set to star in 'Inferno: A Linda Lovelace Story'.

The 'Basic Instinct' star will portray the mother of Linda Lovelace in the biopic about the late US pornographic actress - who starred in 1972 film 'Deep Throat' - and her turbulent relationship with her husband Chuck Traynor, who will be played by Matt Dillon.

'Watchmen' actress Malin Akerman will star as the titular character in the film, which is due to be written and directed by Matthew Wilder.

Controversial actress Lindsay Lohan was previously lined up to play Linda in the biopic - which will be released next year - but she was axed from the role last year.

Director Matthew explained: "We stuck by her very patiently for a long time with a lot of love and support.

"The impossibility of insuring her and other issues have made it impossible for us to go forward."

However, the blonde beauty's spokespeople insisted she had voluntarily left the project in order to recover from a court-ordered rehab session.

A spokesperson for Lindsay said: "Lindsay is dedicated to her recovery and together they decided to move forward without her.

"She wanted them to tone down a lot of the racy scenes.

"It wasn't going to be good for her to play someone with substance issues when she is going through her own recovery."

Amanda Seyfried is set to play the role of Linda in another movie about her life entitled 'Lovelace' - which is due to be released next year - with Peter Sarsgaard rumoured to play Chuck.
