Shirley Maclaine has written a chapter for her upcoming book from the perspective of her dog TERRY, because they share such a close relationship.

The actress is convinced she knew the pet in a previous life and was desperate to share the pooch's views with her fans - and was delighted when the publishers of her new tome OUT ON A LEASH, EXPLORING REALITY AND LOVE agreed.

She says, "I went to my publisher and said that I'm just having these feelings about my dog that are so important."

And the publisher suggested, "Why don't you have Terry write one chapter and you write one chapter?"

In MacLaine's chapter she discusses how Terry has helped her feel more centred. Terry's perspective talks about MacLaine's personal life. Quotes include, "My Mistress Mother can be so serious sometimes."
