Sir Paul McCartney is to patent his famous name, allowing the former beatle to lend his name to official 'MCCartney' products that "he approves of." The multi-millionaire is in the process of registering his name as a trademark, after his company MPL Communications lodged an application with the trademarks registry in London. The move would safeguard the MCCartney name, and if the application is successful, the famous name will be seen on a range of goods as diverse as footwear, fancy dress, and overalls. A spokesperson for the musician says, "It would give him protection against his name being used on products he does not approve of."
