LATEST: Sir Paul McCartney's estranged wife Heather Mills will sue British newspaper the News Of The World over their "defamatory" claims she worked as a high-class prostitute in the early 1990s. On Sunday (11JUN06), the tabloid alleged Mills charged up to $8,000 (GBP4,400) for sex sessions in top London hotels with rich clients, including billionaire arms dealer ADNAN KHASHOGGI, and had indulged in lesbian sex with another prostitute. Mills plans to formally launch legal proceedings against the publication after her divorce from the former beatle is finalised. Her lawyer released a statement today (13JUN06), saying, "Heather is very distressed by this article. "She continues to recover slowly from her revision amputation operation and has suffered weight loss, anxiety and sleeping problems as a result of the stress and anxiety of the break-up of her marriage. "The coverage of this in certain newspapers has caused further distress and illness to her." When the couple split last month (MAY06), they blamed the "constant intrusion" by the media for their marital problems.
