Sir Paul Mccartney - Sir Paul Mccartney: 'Apparently I've Been Hacked'
Sir Paul McCartney has become the latest celebrity to be linked to Britain's phone-hacking tabloid scandal and is heading home to London to help police with their investigations.
The former Beatles star went public with his involvement in the headline-grabbing controversy while promoting his upcoming U.S. TV special at the Television Critics Association festival in Los Angeles on Thursday (04Aug11), telling reporters he has agreed to talk to the police in London.
He said, "Apparently I have been hacked."
MCCartney made it clear he didn't want to dwell on the scandal but stated he felt the idea of tabloids hiring private investigators to hack people phonelines was disgusting.
He added, "It's a tremendous violation of privacy, and I think it's been going on a long time and (that) more people than we know have been affected by it."
Earlier this week (beg01Aug11) MCCartney's ex, Heather Mills, revealed she had been a victim of phone hacking while she was courting the rocker. Actor Jude Law and Hugh Grant have also spoken out after discovering they too were part of the scandal which led to the closure of Sunday tabloid the News of the World last month (Jul11).
