Sir Paul McCartney's new ballet score was inspired by the plight of the world's oceans.
The former Beatles rocker has composed the music for new ballet Ocean's Kingdom, which will debut in New York later this week (22Sep11) and he admits there's a big message behind the score.
MCCartney tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I read recently that in five years we'll have ruined the oceans and lose millions of species of fish - so the ocean kingdom represents purity and the earth kingdom (in the story), which is kind of edgy, wants to steal it."
