Slash will resume his search for Scott Weiland's replacement in Velvet Revolver once he completes his solo tour.
The group, founded by the guitarist and his former Guns N' Roses bandmate Duff MCKagan, has been auditioning singers since firing Weiland in April 2008.
Slash's planned solo tour this summer (10) prompted fears among the supergroup's fans Velvet Revolver would never play again.
However, the rocker insists he's waiting for his schedule to line up with MCKagan's - who is rumoured to have stepped in to replace Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery during the band's hiatus.
Slash tells RollingStone.com, "I think Duff is doing something with Jane's Addiction right now so we're all sort of all over the place doing whatever until we can all regroup. We did listen to a lot of singers, but there hasn't been anybody that's going to be the guy so far."
But he insists Velvet Revolver's next vocalist will be someone who isn't as famous as Stone Temple Pilots star Weiland.
Slash adds, "It's really hard to do something with a voice that's already really well known in an original band. We want someone who is really good that hasn't been recognised by the whole country as being amazing, but somebody who is just on the precipice of just being discovered."
