Sofia Vergara has edged ahead of Kim Kardashian to become the highest earning woman in US television. According to Reuters, Vergara earned $19 million in the last year, ahead of Kardashian's $18 million. Colombian-born Vergara found success in the US thanks to her Emmy Award-winning performances in 'Modern Family.' The ABC sitcom remains a firm favorite amongst Us Tv audiences.
Vergara's impressive earnings are also due in part to her endorsement deals, as well the partnership role that she holds with Latin World Entertainment, which Forbes describes as being "poised to become a new media powerhouse." Similarly, Kardashian doesn't earn her millions simply by allowing cameras to follow her and her family everywhere for her reality TV shows. Though, obviously, without that, interest in her and her brand may not be quite so fervent. But Kim bumps up her earnings with her own clothing lines, endorsement deals and ensuring that she keeps the world tuned into her social media accounts (e.g. Twitter) and of course, her high-profile relationship with Kanye West won't be harming her bank balance, in the long run.
In third place on the Forbes rich list was Eva Longoria, whose stint on Desperate Housewives has just come to an end. The list is compiled taking into account "upfront pay, residuals, endorsements and advertising work, without deducting agent fees or expenses related to being a celebrity."
