The Spice Girls Olympics closing ceremony performance was the most anticipated part of Sunday's evening's show (August 12, 2012), and nearly 30 million people tuned in to watch Scary, Sporty, Baby, Ginger and Posh spice herself Victoria Beckham sing their hits 'Wannabe' and 'Spice Up Your Life'.
Rumours of a long-awaited reunion had been building for weeks, and after the Spice Girls were snapped rehearsing at the Ford plant in Dagenham, excitement for the closing ceremony began to grow. With their differences apparently behind them, the girls certainly looked to be enjoying themselves in the Olympic stadium and photographs posted on Twitter appeared to suggest they were enjoying the after-party too. Victoria Beckham tweeted one image of the girls hugging, with the caption, "We did it!! I love u girls so much!!!!! xxx vb". Emma Bunton tweeted a photograph of herself, Geri Halliwell and Mel B in a garden at sunrise, accompanied by the caption, "Party till the break of dawn, and Mel is still in her outfit". The successful performance begs the question as to whether the girls would consider another reunion tour? The demand would certainly be there, and four of the give girls would no doubt agree to more shows at the drop of a hat. However, getting Victoria Beckham to commit to a world tour would prove difficult, given her burgeoning fashion empire and new daughter Harper.
Their 2008 reunion tour was cut short for personal commitments", stopping them from reaching China, South Africa, Australia and Argentina. It's likely that the same problems would arise again, though a small tour or one-off show is certainly a possibility.
