It was great news for Spice Girls fans on Tuesday (June 26, 2012) as the 90s girl group reunited in London to launch the Jennifer Saunders penned musical 'Viva Forever'. It's been five years since the girls were last together, and this week's photo-call made it clear that each member has since taken their style in a different direction.
At Tuesday's press conference, Geri Halliwell revealed that she had made her outfit herself, with the help of fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton. The Telegraph's fashion critic Belinda White ripped the design to pieces, saying of her Diy dress, "Call us catty if you will, but even the briefest glance by the most short-sighted observer of her twee, lacy creation could confirm that this is not a surprising detail". White had little time for Bunton's effort either, saying, she "came dressed as Kate Middleton's engagement portrait". Mel B, otherwise known as 'Scary Spice', looked almost unrecognisable, with the UK's Daily Mirror commenting, "Throw in some shoulder pads, a leather-look Lanvin dress and a seriously fierce pair of embellished (cough slightly too big cough) Louboutin heels and you just know that Ms B's in there, somewhere". Mel C aka Sporty Spice got it just about right with an Acne dress, readily available from the high street. It's the exact same creation that Kylie Minogue and Karen Gillan have rocked to good effect in recent months.
And that leaves Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice. Predictably, she wore one of her own sleek creations, teamed with Louboutin heels. Though it clearly worked for Victoria, the look made her seem a little distant from the group, with body language expert Judi James remarking, "Victoria looks like a hotel guest who's stumbled into the line-up on her way to her room".
