A horde of fans kicked off a special tribute to classic movie comedians Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy in America on Saturday (19JUL03) - by throwing pies at each other.

About 20 of the duo's fans kicked off a two-day festival of their silent films in Belleville, Illinois, by re-enacting one of the most famous scenes from Laurel and Hardy's BATTLE OF THE CENTURY - a pie fight of mammoth proportions.

The festival continued Sunday (20JUL03) with four Laurel and Hardy silent films, accompanied by organ music.

The four films shown on Sunday were LIBERTY, SHOULD MARRIED MEN GO HOME? YOU'RE DARN TOOTIN' and THE FINISHING TOUCH.
