CBS Les Moonves is not about to join the 3D revolution -- at least not for now. Speaking at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills Wednesday Milken said that he had seen old episodes of Star Trek that had been converted to 3D and "they did not knock me out." Moreover, as reported by Reuters, he suggested that the cost of such conversions is likely to be too high to warrant any corresponding advertising rate increase. "I'm not sure it's going to be economically viable for the near future," Moonves said. On the other hand, he said, 3D coverage of sports events could prove to be "phenomenal." Moonves later told reporters that he expects a booming upfront market this year, a period when advertisers buy commercials in advance (and at a discount). For the past two years, the upfront market has significantly lagged behind prior years because of the weak economy.
