Queen Latifah's U.S. Tv remake of movie classic Steel Magnolias will debut as scheduled this weekend (07Oct12) after a judge rejected a request from a producer of the 1989 film to halt the premiere.

Victoria L. White, who was executive producer on the original which starred Julia Roberts, Sally Field and Dolly Parton, took issue with the small screen reboot, claiming she was owed a producer credit and a fee due to a legal ruling relating to a previous Tv remake in 1992.

She filed a breach of contract suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday (01Oct12) in a bid to prevent the broadcast of the upcoming Lifetime channel project, which stars Latifah, Phylicia Rashad and Jill Scott, but her request for a temporary restraining order was denied on Friday (05Oct12).
