Stella McCartney is standing up for women's rights by creating a virtual White Ribbon badge in aid of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

The British fashion designer is taking a stand against violence towards women by creating a bespoke White Ribbon online badge which will run alongside a two-week online campaign in the run up to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25.
Celine Bonnaire, executive director of the PPR Foundation for Women's Dignity and Rights, told WWD: ''Stella suggested revisiting the ribbon in order to publicise this date, which is not necessarily well-known by the general public.''
Stella joins a list of illustrious members of the fashion industry, including renowned PPR CEO Francois Henri-Pinault, Gucci creative director Frida Giannini and Balenciaga CEO Isabel Guichot.
The campaign is being promoted by social networking sight including Facebook and Twitter, and users can share the badge with friends via twibbon.com.
Stella was named British Designer of the Year at the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards in October and admitted she struggles to juggle being a mother-of-four with her designer duties.
She told Harper's Bazaar magazine: ''Honestly, it's not easy and it's silly to pretend that it is... I lose it sometimes. If I've had four hours' sleep because I was at something late and up early with the kids, then I am not a particularly good mum and not a particularly good colleague at work.''
