BELLA SWAN, the fictional 'Twilight' character played by Kristen Stewart, celebrates her 22nd birthday today (September 13th 2010). In honour of the occasion, the studio behind the film's franchise treated fans to a re-release of 'Twilight Eclipse', which began screening again at cinemas on Friday, September 10th 2010. The extra weekend of ticket sales may well have pushed the film's $298.8 million haul so far, over the $300 million mark, reports Deadline.com.
Bella is the fictional protagonist in the vampire-fantasy story, and is the girlfriend of Edward Cullen, who is played by Robert Pattinson in the film adaptations. She is initially a human, however, after meeting the mysterious Edward, she develops a desire to become a Vampire herself, and eventually transforms into one after almost dying during child-birth.
The 'Twilight' films are adaptations of the fantasy novels by the American author Stephenie Meyer. So far, the first three books have been made into movies, 'Twilight' released in 2008, 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon', released in 2009, and the third film 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse', which was released on June 30th 2010. 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn', which is the fourth book in the series, is set to be made into a film of two parts. Part one is scheduled for release in November 2011, whilst the final part will be released in November 2012.
