Moviemaker Steven Soderbergh fears his new disaster film Contagion will turn cinemagoers into germophobes - because it chronicles the outbreak of a pandemic spread from person to person.
Making the star-studded film, which reteams The Talented Mr. Ripley stars Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon, made Soderbergh rethink his own hygiene efforts and he enjoyed the reaction of preview audiences when they realised they had been sitting next to complete strangers for the duration of the film.
He tells WENN, "Having gone through it, I'm always going to be conscious of germs now. It was fun during the previews when the lights came up and 400 people realised that they're next to strangers and they've touched everything. You could tell they weren't happy."
