Steven Spielberg's mentor Sid Sheinberg is "saddened" by his protege's deal to sell DreamWorks to Viacom.

On Sunday (11DEC05), Spielberg agreed to sell the studio he had founded with Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen, to Viacom-owned Paramount Pictures for $1.6 billion (GBP88 million).

While Spielberg will stay on as a creative consultant to the studio, his former boss and friend Sheinberg believes the War of the Worlds film-maker may not be fully happy with the deal.

Sheinberg says, "He is a very sensitive fellow. He is probably saddened by the deal. I certainly am."
