Steven Tyler has singer/songwriter Kara DioGuardi to thank for his position as an American Idol judge on the hit U.S. TV show - because she suggested to producers he would make a great addition to the talent search.
The Aerosmith frontman joined the programme last year (10) after music mogul Simon Cowell and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres dropped out, and former judge DioGuardi reveals it's all because of her.
She says, "I'm a huge fan of Steven Tyler's. He actually came over to write a song last year and I just found out he's so warm and funny and sensitive. I actually mentioned his name to the (American Idol) producers."
DioGuardi also quit the show last year to make way for Tyler and new sidekick Jennifer Lopez.
