Steven Tyler's family are reportedly upset at his engagement.

The Aerosmith frontman has finally confirmed he is set to wed fiancee Erin Brady after popping the question, but the news is not thought to have gone down well with the singer's family.

According to gossip website TMZ.com, sources close to Steven said they were annoyed at finding out about the engagement after he proposed.

The 'American Idol' judge - who has been with Erin since 2006 - has a famously wild past, but when he first got together with Erin she insisted she wouldn't tolerate any bad behaviour.

She recently explained: "I just said, 'Hey listen, if you play, I'm gonna play.' He didn't really like it when he was on The Other Side of that scenario."

But the 63-year-old rocker admits he is "ashamed" of his bad behaviour in the past.

He told Oprah Winfrey in her 'Final Chapter' show: "For all the divorces I've had, I hurt those girls deeply, and there was some behaviour that I'm ashamed of and I shouldn't have done. I don't want to hurt anybody again..."
