Steven Tyler - Tyler's Daughter Tried To Talk Him Out Of American Idol Spot
Steven Tyler's daughter Chelsea begged her dad to turn down a judging role on American Idol - because she didn't want to "share him" with the world.
The Aerosmith frontman was approached to fill a position on the judging panel of hit U.S. reality show American Idol after creator Simon Cowell, songwriter Kara DioGuardi and TV personality Ellen DeGeneres vacated their posts in 2010.
But 23-year-old Chelsea Tallarico admits she tried to discourage her rocker father from taking on the job, insisting it wouldn't be good for his career.
She tells Page Six Magazine, "I was definitely pushing toward a no when he got the offer. I thought it was a little cheesy."
However, the model confesses she's glad the Dream On hitmaker ignored her advice because she realises it was selfish to keep her dad from doing something he loved.
She added, "I didn't realise the heart he was going to put into it. That's really him, and I have a tendency to want to keep him private. It's daunting to share him like that."
