Stevie Wonder is urging U.S. politicians to tackle the issue of gun ownership in the U.S. following the deadly cinema massacre in Colorado in July (12).
The tragic shooting, which claimed the lives of 12 film fans at a screening of the new Batman movie, has highlighted gun control laws in the U.S., but the singer insists killing sprees regularly occur in poorer neighbourhoods without receiving much attention.
He tells Britain's The Guardian, "I'm concerned about how accessible guns are... I'm talking about in the hood. That (Colorado) was also very sad, but this is an occurrence almost every week in various cities."
Now Wonder, a longtime campaigner for gun control, is challenging government leaders to change the restrictions on firearms ownership.
He adds, "No politician wants to confront it. The right to bear arms? What about the right to live?"
