Adele warned Kelly Clarkson not to have a baby yet.

The 'Someone Like You' hitmaker welcomed a son, Angelo, with Simon Konecki in October 2012 and has been taking an extended break from music ever since, so she was quick to remind fellow singer Kelly that becoming a mother might affect her career.

Kelly - who announced she was expected her first child with her husband Brandon Blackstock on Twitter earlier this week - admits she paid no attention to her new pal Adele's words of wisdom.

The first 'American Idol' winner told Us Weekly magazine: ''I ran into her at the Grammys last year, and I was like, 'So, when is your next album coming out?' She knows now I'm a superfan. She's so sweet.

''She's my big favourite to work with just because I'm a huge fan. She told me she was a big fan, too, and gave me some advice.

''She said, 'Girl, don't have a baby 'cause everything else will go on the back burner. I'm so happy living in babyland.' ''

The 'Because of You' singer has wanted a child for years and isn't worried about putting her career on hold to raise her family, which already includes Brandon's children, Savannah, 11, and Seth, seven.

She said before her wedding on October 20: ''More than anything, next I want a baby. My record label is freaking out because all I can talk about now are babies.

''We're really excited and want to get our family started. I'm 31 and we'd like to do it the natural way. My eggs aren't getting any younger!''
