Actress-turned-pop star Ariana Grande has pulled out of a string of Tv appearances after she was ordered to rest her voice.

The singer strained her vocal cords at a performance in Los Angeles on Monday (09Sep13) and was urged by her doctor not to talk or sing.

Grande has had to cancel promotional gigs, including spots on The Queen Latifah Show and The Arsenio Hall Show, while she recovers.

The 20 year old tweeted, "First day off in forever... Vocal rest and watching movies in with my best friend... dunno what I'd do without her. Thank you guys for the well wishes, I'll be better in no time... just need some rest."

The former Victorious star has had some good news to cushion the blow - she scored her first number one on the U.S. album chart with her debut release Yours Truly.
