The Australian government has offered A$ 21.6 million (US$20.2 million) to encourage Disney to shoot 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' in the country.

George Brandis, the Australian Federal Arts Minister, has agreed the lucrative deal after lengthy negotiations with Disney, Variety.com reports.

Brandis explained the money has been reallocated after the initial intended recipient - '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea' - was abandoned.

He explained: ''The government is pleased to agree to Disney's request to enable earlier funding to be repurposed for the production of 'Pirates of the Caribbean 5'.

''Any decision to film productions in Australia is a commercial matter for Disney.''

What's more, it's been confirmed that Disney could receive even more funding in the event of it doing more filming in the country.

The state of Queensland, for instance, has already said that it has ''done all that it can'' to encourage the studio to film there.

Meanwhile, it's been confirmed that filming for the fifth installment in the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise will begin in early 2015.

The eagerly-awaited flick will feature Johnny Depp and will be released on July 7, 2017.
