Ben Stiller is planning to cut back on his acting schedule in the near future so he can focus on his passion as a director.

The Night at the Museum star enjoys the freedom of being able to tell different stories from behind the camera and admits he would love to build up his filmmaking resume following the upcoming release of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which he directed and stars in.

He tells industry publication Variety, "I love acting, but... as an actor, to a certain extent, you're just limited to who you are and what you get cast in. The process is less vulnerable when you're directing, because you're supposedly in control."

Stiller has also previously served as director and actor in Tropic Thunder and Zoolander.
