Michael Jackson - Bent Spoon Michael Jackson Gifted To Uri Geller Sells For $750
The Thriller hitmaker served as his friend's best man as Geller renewed his vows to wife Hanna at their home in Berkshire, England in 2001, and the superstar marked the occasion by gifting the groom with the distorted piece of cutlery, a nod to the Israeli magician's famous bent spoon act.
Geller offered up the item to help raise funds for the Thames Hospicecare organisation, which provides help and support for locals in the Berkshire and Oxfordshire area suffering from cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
A message written on the spoon by Geller reads: "7 March 2001 M.J. gave me this spoon. Uri Geller", and it was snapped up by a lucky bidder when it went under the hammer at The Flowing Spring pub in Oxfordshire on Saturday (31Aug13).
Landlord Nick Willson says, "Michael Jackson's spoon went to a local person, but I reckon it could easily re-sell for much more as it's quite a unique item that has international appeal."
Geller's spoon wasn't the only celebrity draw at the sale - an original canvas print donated by singer Kate Bush went for $180 (£120), while a drum skin autographed by rockers Deep Purple and donated by the band's drummer, Ian Paicey, netted $195 (£130).
An authenticated, framed piece of red carpet from new dad Prince William's 2012 royal wedding to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge even hit three-figures, with the bizarre item selling for $150 (£100).
The auction raised an estimated $9,750 (£6,500) for Thames HospiceCare, reports the Bbc.
