Bingo Players Dj Paul Baumer has lost his battle with cancer.

The Dutch dance star died on Tuesday (17Dec13), five months after going public with his diagnosis.

Bandmate Maarten Hoogstraten broke the sad news to fans via the duo's Facebook.com page on Wednesday (18Dec13) and revealed he had scrapped all remaining live dates for this month (Dec13) to allow him time to grieve.

He writes, "Dear All, I'm deeply saddened to tell you that Paul passed away last night after his battle with cancer. He fought strongly until the end.

"We want to thank you all for your support over the past few months.

"Needless to say, all upcoming shows for the rest of this year have been cancelled as we're going through this loss with family and friends... Paul, we will miss you."

Baumer rose to fame as one half of the Bingo Players in 2006. They scored hits with tracks like 2011's Rattle and Cry (Just a Little), which was sampled on rapper Flo Rida's song I Cry, which was released last year (12).

A re-release of Rattle, titled Get Up (Rattle), hit music retailers earlier this year (13) and topped the singles chart in the U.K.

Baumer and Hoogstraten also served as owners of Hysteria Records, which released work by producers including Bassjackers, Sandro Silva and Ralvero.

Baumer's illness forced him to bow out of gigs from July (13) onwards, leaving Hoogstraten to perform solo, but he returned to the studio in September (13) and had hoped to join his pal back on the road.

Stars from the dance music scene have since paid tribute to the Dj via Twitter.com, with Kaskade writing, "Much respect for @bingo_players. Love their music. The world has lost a hugely creative voice. Love to Maarten, + Paul's family."

Steve Aoki adds, "really saddened to hear about the loss of a wonderful human. honored to have known him. rest in peace paul" and Dj Afrojack tweets, "Take a moment of silence, one of the nicest people and most talented music producers in the whole scene passed away today, rip Paul Baumer".
