With the exception of preseason football, in the form of the Hall of Fame game between Dallas and Miami, getting into the mix, the weekly Nielsen primetime ratings were about the same last Sunday as they were before the CBS blackout on Time Warner cable began on Friday. Indeed, CBS posted a few ratings increases during the weekend. Among the nightly newscasts, The CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley did seem to take a hit, dropping slightly to 5.8 million from 6 million during the previous week, but only one night of the week -- Friday -- was affected by the blackout, and the other two newscasts were down slightly as well. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams fell to 7.4 million viewers from 7.5 million and ABC World News with Diane Sawyer slipped to 7.0 million viewers from 7.3 million. For the week, CBS remained on top with an overall household rating of 3.8 and a 7 share. NBC placed second with a 3.4/6. ABC followed with a 2.6/5, while Fox trailed with a 1.5/3.
