Bruce Willis is to star in 'Extraction'.

The 'Die Hard' star has signed up to take on the lead role in the upcoming thriller directed by Steven C. Miller, Deadline reports.

The 59-year-old actor will play a former CIA operative whose wife has been murdered and whose son is following in his career footsteps.

His character is to be kidnapped by a terrorist group while he's working with his son on the development of a super-weapon called the Condor.

Upon learning there is no plan to save his father, Harry decides to launch his own rescue operation which leads to a conspiracy that will change his life forever.

The script was written by Umair Aleem and the movie - which begins shooting in Alabama next month - will be produced by Emmet/Furla/Oasis Films' Randall Emmett and George Furla and Aperture's Adam Goldworm with Tim Sullivan, Brandon Grimes and Gus Furla onboard as co-producers.

Willis' was last seen reprising his roles in the sequels 'Red 2' and 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' while he recently wrapped on Barry Levinson's comedy 'Rock the Kasbah'.
