Bryan Singer - Bryan Singer's Accuser Drops Sex Abuse Case
A sex abuse lawsuit against Hollywood director Bryan Singer, dating back 15 years, has been dropped.
Michael Egan Iii claimed the X-Men filmmaker molested him at a party in 1999, when he was 17, and filed the legal complaint in April (14).
Singer filed a motion for dismissal earlier this summer (14), and the plaintiff filed a request to dismiss the case last week (ends22Aug14) - because he was unable to find an attorney to represent him.
On Wednesday (27Aug14), U.S. district judge Susan Oki Mollway granted Egan's motion for voluntary dismissal in U.S. District Court in Hawaii, according to legal documents obtained by Billboard.com.
Egan's suit was dismissed without prejudice, allowing him to refile a claim against the filmmaker at a later date if he wishes.
Judge Mollway also denied Singer's request to have Egan pay for his lawyers' fees and costs, citing that the director failed to identify what those exact costs are.
