Carmen Electra says shooting the Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial was a ''lot of fun''.

The former 'Baywatch' actress is the star of the upcoming spoof TV advert for the German car manufacturer, which was previewed online this week and will be aired during the NFL showpiece game which takes place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on February 2.

The preview begins with a 'Volkswagen engineer' stating the ''precision of German engineering makes Volkswagen vehicles great. So why not use it to make a great Volkswagen commercial. By isolating your most successful humour ads we have developed an algorithm to make the ultimate commercial for your big American football festival''.

The advert then starts and shows Carmen dancing next to a car, while characters such as babies, football players, a bare-chested muscle man, an Abraham Lincoln lookalike and a giant hamburger move along to a song which urges everyone to ''Wang Chung''.

However, everything starts to go wrong after Carmen sets off the vehicle's alarm, an elderly man gets hit in the groin with a tennis ball, Lincoln steals a baby and one of the football players get confetti in his eyes.

The 41-year-old singer-and-actress admits filming the ad was just as crazy as it seems on screen but very enjoyable and she can't wait for it to air on Super Bowl game day.

Carmen - who is currently working on songs for a new album and has already released single 'WERQ', which is available on iTunes - told BANG Showbiz: ''The Super Bowl commercial was a lot of fun. Basically the commercial is about everything that has gone right with Super Bowl commercials sort of going wrong. There's chaos, it was a lot of fun to shoot. We had babies on set, Abraham Lincoln, live animals - who were taken care of very well, because I'm an animal lover - football players, bikini girls, there was so much going on, it was so fun to shoot. I'm very excited about it. Super Bowl commercials are usually the most watched commercials of the year and people really pay attention to them. It's exciting, I've been in Super Bowl commercials before and it's really exciting to have one this year.''
