Former Glee star Charice Pempengco reportedly attempted to commit suicide due to financial issues, according to her grandmother.

Teresita Relucio reveals the singer slit her wrists, but gave no timeline as to when the incident occurred, according to RadarOnline.com.

Relucio claims 21-year-old Pempengco's bank account had been cleared out and she was distraught over her financial instability when she decided to attempt to take her life.

Reports of Charice's money troubles have surfaced in the past, but she denied them and even showed off a new sports car she had purchased with cash.

Charice has had a rough couple of years - her father was murdered in the Philippines in 2011, and in 2012 she was left devastated following the death of her Glee co-star, Cory Monteith, who died of an accidental drug overdose in July (13).

Pempengco was discovered by Oprah Winfrey, who called her "the most talented girl in the world", and became a regular child star on her daily show. She appeared on several episodes of Glee as Sunshine Corazon.

She has recorded four studio albums and last year (12) signed on to become a judge on The X Factor Tv talent show in her native Philippines.
