Rapper Chief Keef has left a top California rehab clinic in a bid to avoid the media.

The troubled star, real name Keith Cozart, has departed Promises in Malibu after the place became a mecca for paparazzi hoping to grab a shot of the hip-hop hitmaker as he serves 90 days of court-ordered treatment.

His lawyer tells Tmz.com Keef has been moved to another rehab facility in Southern California because of the "overwhelming media attention" he was getting.

The rapper is now preparing for Christmas in his new rehab home.

His attorney tells the website that arrangements are being made to fly his family to the new facility from his native Chicago, Illinois so Keef won't be all alone at Christmas.

The 18 year old was handed his rehab sentence on 6 November (13) after a Cook County, Illinois judge ruled he had violated his probation by testing positive for marijuana in September (13). He had been ordered to stay sober after pleading guilty to a charge of speeding following an arrest in May (13).
