Christopher Abbott - Christopher Abbott Opens Up About Girls Departure
The actor, who played Allison Williams' long-suffering love interest Charlie Dattolo, bowed out of the acclaimed U.S. series in April (13) amid reports of a falling out with Girls creator and star Lena Dunham.
However, Abbott is adamant there was no bust-up with Dunham, admitting his decision to leave came about gradually as he realised he couldn't identify with the role he was playing.
He tells The New York Times, "The world that Lena wrote was very real, especially in New York. But it wasn't as relatable for me on a personal level. It's not that I only like to play roles I know to a tee, but there's something satisfying about playing parts where you really relate to the characters."
Abbott is now starring in the play Where We're Born in Manhattan, while Girls has been renewed for a third season.
