Sir Cliff Richard - Cliff Richard Fans Launch Chart Campaign Amid Police Probe
Sir Cliff Richard's loyal fans have launched a campaign to get the veteran star back to the top of the U.K. singles chart as police investigate an allegation of sexual abuse.
The music veteran hit headlines last week (ends17Aug14) when cops raided his home in Berkshire, England amid a probe into claims a boy under the age of 16 was sexually assaulted in 1985.
Fans of the Living Doll singer are now showing their support by launching a campaign to get the star's 1992 track I Still Believe In You to number one.
The drive was launched on social media on Monday (18Aug14), and a message posted on a fan group's Facebook.com page reads, "To show our support to Cliff at this difficult time, we and many others are asking all U.K. fans, if they wish, to help by downloading Cliff's 1992 single from iTunes of Amazon (sic). To achieve a high enough chart placing, please only download from Monday 18th August - Saturday 23rd August, midnight U.K. time."
Richard has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, calling the allegation "completely false".
