Colin Firth has been cast in thriller 'Three To Kill'.

The actor has signed on to star in the big screen adaptation of French author Jean-Patrick Manchette's novel, with Christopher McQuarrie on board to direct.

Howard Rodman is writing the script and Andrew Lauren will produce alongside Laura Bickford.

Firth will play a disillusioned businessman visiting the French coast who accidentally stumbles across a murder scene. The two crazed killers then embark on a mission to hunt him down in order to eliminate anyone who could link them to the crime.

Manchette's book has already successfully been turned into a critically-acclaimed graphic novel called 'West Coast Blues' by Jacques Tardi, so McQuarrie could be onto a winner.

Production will have to wait until the filmmaker has wrapped work on 'Mission: Impossible 5', which is set for a December 25, 2015 release and sees the return of Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg.

Firth is currently working on Matthew Vaughn's spy flick 'The Secret Service' and will also be recording Paddington Bear's voice for the new animated take on the loveable children's story.
