Counting Crows - Counting Crows Sued By Former Managers
Counting Crows have been sued by their former management agency over claims the rock group has breached a contract by failing to hand over a portion of their earnings.
The Accidentally In Love hitmakers were represented by Martin Kirkup and Steven Jensen of Direct Management Group between 1992 and 2001, but later parted ways with the firm.
In court documents filed last week (ends03Aug14) and obtained by editors at Tmz.com, Direct Management Group bosses claim their agreement with the band guarantees them a percentage of the group's earnings indefinitely.
The lawsuit states the band stopped paying the company in November 2013, more than a decade after they ceased to manage the musicians, and the Counting Crows are now asking for a new agreement with lower payments to their former managers.
However, the firm's executives are reportedly unwilling to change the agreement and are suing for the last eight months of unmade payments.
Counting Crows had not responded to requests for comment as Wenn went to press.
