Diana Ross hosted a ''farewell barbecue'' for Evan Ross and Ashley Simpson.

The 70-year-old star threw the party for her son and his new bride the day after their wedding to wish them well on their journey into married life.

The bash took place at the 'I'm Coming Out' hitmaker's estate in Greenwich, Connecticut - where the couple also tied the knot - and was for ''close friends and family'' only, according to the New York Post newspaper's PageSix.

The party was organised by events planner Brett Galley of Hollywood Pop, who ensured the ''lavish bohemian theme'' was maintained throughout the event.

At the intimate nuptials the day before - where Jessica Simpson acted as matron of honour for her younger sister - Ashlee was overheard by a source saying that, ''she and Evan were 'meant to be' and, 'Diana is a wonderful mother'.''

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Ashlee's five-year-old son Bronx, from her previous marriage to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz, walked her down the aisle on her big day.

And Diana is thought to have performed at the nuptials after 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay' actor Evan previously admitted she was keen to be involved in every aspect of the ceremony.
