Edgar Ramirez will replace Gerard Butler in 'Point Break'.

The 37-year-old actor is in talks with production company Alcon over the role of Bodhi - a part originally played by 'Dirty Dancing' hunk Patrick Swayze in the classic 1991 surfer heist - after Gerard Butler pulled out at the last minute, reports Variety.

Producers had less than a month to find a replacement for the '300' star who exited the film over unnamed ''creative differences'' and conflicting schedules.

The 44-year-old actor - who is filming 'Olympus Has Fallen' in London this autumn - was unable to take part in the lengthy 'Point Break' shoot which begins in June and is expected to last several months in a number of international locations.

Along with Edgar, Ray Winstone has been added to the cast in the role Agent Pappas, the partner of FBI agent Johnny Utah, played by 'Home And Away' star Luke Bracey.

In a new twist, 'Point Break' will be updated from a surfer-scene setting to the world of extreme sports.

'Salt' and 'Total Recall' writer Kurt Wimmer has been called in to pen the script, with Alcon's Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove producing alongside John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Wimmer.
