Edie Campbell was drunk when she agreed to walk half-naked for Marc Jacobs.

The 23-year-old model - who appeared in the American fashion designer's final show for Louis Vuitton wearing just a G-string, body paint and Swarovski crystals last year - admitted she'd drank a few too many cocktails before agreeing to walk in the show.

She told Telegraph.co.uk: ''I'd had quite a few mojitos by that point so I was just agreeing to anything.

''They said, 'Perfect! Come to the studio tomorrow so we can fit your jewelled thong.'''

Edie - who had her body painted head to toe in the Louis Vuitton monogram prior to the show - was forced to stand for seven hours while an artist completed the design.

The stunning brunette admitted she found the process ''exhausting'' and even had to be held up by assistants when she became too tired to stand.

She explained: ''I was exhausted - I'd had about six hours' sleep in three days - and I couldn't sit down while I was being painted.

''The guy painting the type just completely lost the plot and kept spelling words wrong, so would have to rub it out and start again. By the end I was being held up by two assistants. It was incredibly stressful.''

Despite surviving on just a few hours sleep, Edie enjoyed the show and was able to conquer her fear of being naked.

She said: ''It was pretty special, just in terms of conquering that nightmarish fear of being naked in front of people.

''But when you're working in fashion, you become very objective about your body. I was marching around in a full showgirl look with a feather headdress, very separated from my real self, so it wasn't so terrifying.''
