Ellen Degeneres and Portia De Rossi have made a $15 million profit on a house they only bought a few months ago.

The couple - who have been married for six years - weren't planning to sell 'The Brody House' in Los Angeles so soon, but were made an offer she couldn't refuse from Napster co-founder Sean Parker late last month.

The technological entrepreneur offered $55 million for the nine-bedroom property, which the couple bought for $40 million late last year and subsequently spent a relatively modest $60,000 on re-modelling the kitchen and bathroom, and the paperwork was completed in just eight days.

With the profit they made, the couple quickly snapped up two apartments in nearby Beverly Hills for $16 million, which they plan to combine into one unit to give them extra space.

Recently, Ellen and Portia - who also have a six-bedroom home in Montecito, Santa Barbara County - had allegedly asked for planning permission to build a $35,000 spa at one of their homes.

They submitted their construction plans to the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety, which showed that they wanted to install a 15 foot jacuzzi.

The plans also detailed that the spa would have glass walls, a seating area and an overhead skylight.
