Emily Blunt ''almost broke her nose'' filming 'Edge of Tomorrow'.

'The Devil Wears Prada' actress takes on her first role as an action hero in her latest movie, and even though she prepared for it with Krav Maga martial arts, sprinting, gymnastics, yoga and weight training, it still hurt when she started doing stunts.

Emily - who appears alongside action veteran Tom Cruise in the film - said: ''In my initiation to the action world, in stunt training I almost broke my nose.

''It wasn't even a cool story. I smacked myself in the face with my sword. Tom came into the trailer as I was sitting there with ice on my face and high-fived me and said, 'Welcome to the club.' I said, 'Dude, I'm in so much pain.' He said, 'Yeah!' ''

Tom, 51, famously does all his own stunts, but even he isn't immune to mishaps, and fell off a car while shooting one scene.

He added to People magazine: ''I was bleeding - I got slashed by the metal.

''But that stuff happens. The thing with Emily was, we never compared bruises. Making an action movie everyone's in pain, so you just don't mention it.''
