Latin superstar Enrique Iglesias has called on fans to donate money to aid the victims of the deadly Typhoon Haiyan, which devastated his mother's native Philippines when it struck earlier this month (Nov13).

As many as 10,000 people are feared dead following the natural disaster, which wreaked havoc across the island nation on 8 November (13).

The Hero hitmaker has since made a personal appeal to his devotees to boost funds for the recovery effort, which has already prompted stars including rockers Journey and rapper The Game to open their wallets for the cause.

Sharing a link to the Red Cross on his official website, Iglesias writes, "Help The Philippines! People in the Philippines need our help right away! Please consider donating to Haiyan disaster relief. You'll feel good that you did".

The singer's mother, socialite and journalist Isabel Preysler, moved from the Philippines to Madrid, Spain as a teenager and wed Enrique's father, Julio Iglesias, in 1971. Their marriage was annulled in 1979.

Iglesias Senior has also showed his support for the disaster victims via a post on his Twitter.com page.

The translated message, which was written in Spanish, reads: "My heart is the people of the Philippines after the grand devastation that the typhoon left. All my love and encouragement!"

Meanwhile, Black Eyed Peas star apl.de.ap has also helped to raise cash for typhoon survivors by performing at a charity event at the Xana Beach Club in Phuket, Thailand on Sunday (17Nov13). Proceeds were donated to the Filipino-born rapper's Give2Asia charity.
