Gwar - Gwar Launch Charity And Monument Project To Honour Late Frontman

Heavy metal stars Gwar have launched a charity in honour of their late frontman Dave Brockie and its first mission is to fund a memorial monument in his adopted hometown.

The 50-year-old singer, who went by the stage name of Oderus Urungus, was found dead at his home in Richmond, Virginia last month (Mar14).

His bandmates have now launched the Dave Brockie Foundation, and the organisation's first project will be to fund the creation of a memorial monument in Richmond.

The rockers say in a statement, "The foundation's first goal is to finance the creation of a memorial monument in Richmond, Virginia to provide the world with a place to pay respects to the memory of a very cherished man."

The charity will also preserve Brockie's "images, recordings and written words, and make them available for the world to appreciate" while also supporting various arts projects and struggling musicians.
