Masked rockers GWAR have opted to continue with plans to stage their annual Gwar-B-Q event in Virginia following the death of frontman Dave Brockie.

The group founder, aka Oderus Urungus, passed away at his home in the state on Sunday (23Mar14), and his bandmates have decided the show must go on, because it's what he would have wanted.

The event will take place at Hadad's Lake in Richmond in August (16Aug14), a day after a planned memorial for Brockie at the same location.

Friends, bandmates, fans and family members are awaiting a toxicology report from the Virginia medical examiner to confirm the cause of Brockie's death, amid reports suggesting drug use may have been involved.

Funeral arrangements have been made and a private memorial will be held.
