British rocker Jarvis Cocker has signed up to judge a Pulp karaoke contest in New York City.

The band's frontman will preside over the competition, which will be held at the Industry City venue in Brooklyn on 7 August (14).

Interested participants must tweet why they're eager to perform in front of Cocker, and chosen entrants will pick a tune from a selection of Pulp tracks, including All Time High, Babies, Common People, and Do You Remember The First Time.

All karaoke contest participants will receive tickets to the screening of Pulp's new film Pulp: A Film About Life, Death, and Supermarkets, which will be held before the competition, and the winner will receive special prizes.

Cocker and the film's director, Florian Habicht, will also participate in a question-and-answer session with fans after the screening.
